Statement of Reasons

Hill Top Road Development, Walkden North - Traffic regulations

A new residential development is to be built on the southern side of Hill Top Road  in the Walkden North area of Salford. The development will attract additional traffic to the area especially along Hill Top Road from Bolton Road (A575) to the new development making it necessary to review and amend traffic restrictions to ensure highway safety is maintained.

The proposed waiting restriction and 20mph speed limit are aimed at ensuring road safety in the area, specifically aimed at ensuring safe access and egress, in and out of the new development and ensuring service and other vehicles are able to safely turn round in the provided turning heads. Avoiding the need to reverse long distances, which is a hazard due to reduced visibility and ability to see pedestrians and other approaching vehicles, bikes or cyclists when reversing.

The 20mph speed limit will help ensure as far as possible vehicles travel at an appropriate speed within this all-residential area.

Further details can be found in the accompanying information and plans.
