Statement of reasons

The proposed puffin crossing will improve the safety of pedestrians, in particular, school children walking to and from Monton Green Primary School. Rocky Lane and Monton Green are busy roads with a high degree of crossing difficulty due to an average daily traffic flow of 13916 vehicles. The puffin crossing will operate by providing pedestrians with a push button to call a dedicated pedestrian phase to safely cross while vehicle traffic is held on a red traffic signal.

The proposed ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions are required to improve visibility and traffic flow on Park Road. The restrictions on Rocky Lane and Monton Green will replace the existing double white line system, which relies on police enforcement.
