Statement of Reasons

A new residential development, on Walkden Road opposite the eastern end of Kingsway is being constructed. As a result it has been deemed necessary to protect the area in front of the development which is close to the traffic signalled junction with the A580 East Lancashire Road.

It is proposed to introduce No Waiting At Any Time along the frontage of the new development, to discourage parking on the highway close to this major junction, which would restrict traffic flows especially at peak periods and severely increase congestion in the area.

Further details may be examined in the accompanying details and plan.
